Texting and Driving in Georgia

A report from AAA had previously indicated that those who are distracted by texting while driving were eight times more likely to experience a vehicle crash. When a motorist’s eyes are on their cell phone, they risk causing injuries and even death, not only to their own person but to other drivers, byciclist and pedestrians as well. In the state of Georgia, those deadly traffic injuries had risen by one-third between 2014-2016 and later declined in 2017.

Georgia Distracted Driving Law

The new Georgia Distracted Driving law took effect in July of last year, is preventative in nature and prohibits drivers from using their cellphones while out driving on the roads. This law is said to have reduced the spike of distracted driver accidents as they relate to cell phone use while operating a motor vehicle.  While this new law has no doubt been helpful, it by no means diminishes the pain and suffering of those who have endured injuries in accidents involving distracted drivers.

Distracted Driving Accidents In Georgia

Despite that the new law is aimed at curtailing and reducing the number of injuries and fatalities resulting from distracted driving, there were still over 348 fatalities in Georgia in 2019 at last check.  These accidents can result in serious injuries, loss of life and have an irreparable impact on your quality of life and your future.
